The arcade version of Strider has always been a favorite of mine since its release and I pumped endless quarters into it. This led me to finally owning an arcade machine (well 2 actually) in the mid 90's.
But one thing always really bothered me, the horrible job they did with the character art borders and how they would bleed over into the other frames of animation. This may be a minor thing to some but it drove me nuts in the early days at the arcade, and even more so when I owned it.
At any rate these patches now fix that problem. This also fixes 2 messed up music tracks. The ending music was not pointing to the correct location so it would just default to the level 1 music. The ending music was always there in the roms just not called correctly, it now is. The same goes for the hurry up music. When you let the timer almost run out the music track will switch to a fast pace "time running out" tune now with this fix. The original roms again were pointing to the wrong place and defaulted to level 1 music.
Also the amazon women art was slightly covered up in the final version. The original artwork of the prototype has always been in the roms, just hidden. It is now restored in my fix.

I enjoy what I have done to one of my favorite games as it makes it feel more complete to me, I hope you enjoy it as well.

These patches are to be applied to the revision 1 romset as it unfortunately was the most common version found on original USA PCB's. The revision 1 set was missing many music tracks, rev 2 fixed most but not the ending or hurry up music as my patch does.
Revision 1 is the same as the mame STRIDER.ZIP romset. These patches are intended for real hardware but can be run in mame if you repack the strider.zip with the patched files and have it bypass its crc check by running from command line.
